Just back from the Isle of Wight, short break, 5 days, to Bembridge. Cost £25 each for two of us, and good value, clean bed linen and beds made up and cleaner came after we left, but we didn't leave a mess. Had a chalet, that had bath/shower/ separate toilet, colour TV, microwave, oven, double bed for me, two singles in other room, settee and two chairs, cutlery and cooking utensils. Very good value for money, had to kick door shut, and obviously not luxery but good for walking. Also number 8 bus stopped outside site and all the travel was free with an old age bus pass. Electricity and fire included in price. The most expensive was the train fare and the ferry, but even that was cheap with a rail card and bus pass, althought the ferry bloke didn't ask to see mine as he said I looked honest, I think he thought I looked old. The island is lovely, and it was so quiet at this time of the year, probably murder in the high season. The beach at Sandown was beautiful and dogs are allowed after 1 October. Felt a bit sorry for the singer in the entertainment as only 4 people were listening. Might go back next year, and take the grandchildren although it will be expensive as they are at school. Tempted to buy a caravan as they are very smart, better than my house. Also the houses/bungalows there are cheaper then London so feel a move coming on.
Glad you had such a good break Borlotti! It sounds as though you really enjoyed it.
Sounds good, do you have a link?
You have to collect coupons from the Sun newspaper, think it starts in January then you can book anywhere off season. Probably loads of cheap break offers if you can go outside the school holidays as the holiday camps are empty. The accommodation is basic but clean, and who can complain for that money. It does get a bit complicated because you have to give different dates and different locations so don't always get first choice. My friend does it a lot as she loves walking, also she said 4 people were going (which was not true, not me that booked it) so we got more space. We stayed at Whitecliff Bay, near Bembridge but there are loads of sites on the Isle of Wight, but she is going to Lincolnshire beginning of next month with her daughter (another Sun cheap holiday) but one has to avoid half term and school holidays as they are fully booked then, also all the entertainments close down (hurray) so peaceful for the OAP's.
So glad you had a nice holiday,my Son and his Wife are going to Isle of Wight, they always get the Sun holidays,I think its a fancy caravan, they love it being so cheap. :D
Sounds like bliss to me

Nice to see you had a great time.
Hey! This sounds great and I'm pleased you had a good time - ACE buy you any drinks btw? :P
I've heard that they're really good value, so, please, how many coupons do you need to collect and is there a special day in the week when they're printed, etc.? Bottom line - how does it work, please?
Thanks, Lish and again, great to hear that you had such a fab time. X

I didn't know which pub they were drinking in, but I did see a couple of old biddies thumbing a lift near Ryde I was going to stop but my missus reckoned they looked a bit rough, I wonder if it was them.
Looks like you could be having new neighbours Ace. 8) ;)
Excuse me, but we don't drink in pubs, too mean, buy cheap booze from Co-op and drink it in the chalet/caravan, old people not allowed out at night. Had to wait an hour at Ryde for the no. 8 bus to Bembridge. Don't worry ACE we were didn't get to Cowes, but it is a lovely island, liked it better than Jersey, and not so expensive and the weather was better. Nice place to live, lucky you, but very windy when we went to Alum Bay.
