Title: Re-planting Peony's
Post by: Growing4twins on October 09, 2011, 12:55:30
I have finally got my hands on a peony  ;D YAY!!!

My brother told me that they were a nightmare to dig up so i went in full force to get it up & it wasnt the case at all.  The roots snapped in a few places, so ive spread them around the garden a little bit, i just hope they take :-\

My question is how deep should i plant it??  It has new shoots on the root, do i cover these up or leave them on ground level?  Also should i cut back the dying branches or leave them to die back on their own??

Cheers guys :)

Not too deep or it may decide to sulk and refuse to flower. About its own depth below the surface won't go very far wrong.

Thanks for getting back to me Robert, i planted the roots a few days ago with the shoots just on the surface of the soil, i shall dig them a little bit deeper tomorrow & keep my fingers crossed that they survive & hopefully flower next year :)
