Title: Whitebeam tree
Post by: gonz on October 01, 2011, 11:38:35
Hello,  we have a Whitebeam tree which we planted in Feb/March this year.  We need to move it to a different part of the garden, does anyone know the best time of year to do this????????

Now normally, but with the weather like it is I would leave it a month. If it was potted before you planted it last spring it will not be stressed much by the move but if it was bare root, dig a great big hole so as not to disturb the new roots too much.

Yes, it was potted.  I will give it a few more weeks.  Thanks very much for the advice.

If it is planted in the garden wait until all its leaves have dropped then move it when you want weather permitting. Ideally dig up with a big rootball so as not to disturb the roots or just get as many roots as you can. Dig up and replant immediately so the roots do not dry out.
