I was planning on replanting my strawberry bed this year. I inherited the existing strawberry plants with the plot last autumn, and most of the plants haven't produced much by way of fruit. My thinking was that I'd just take runners from the existing plants (the fruit that has been produced is really tasty!).
However, the plants are still fruiting, and don't seem to have produced a single runner. Is this normal? ???
Some varieties such as everbearing strawberries do not send out runners, these sometimes grow several crowns and can be split into separate plants or by saving seeds and sowing them.
