Well if you want chat in the shed, How about this one. Has anyone out there got a more messy greenhouse than me. I can't bear to go in anymore. dirty pots, All manner of compost littering the floor, I have literally thrown everything in there for the last few months. I have to go in and clear up but what to do with empty compost bags that I am saving for filling with manure from a local small holding. The spiders have taken over and when I go in I have to unravel webs from my face. My OT is so tidy in his (yes we have his and hers) He grows the tomatoes in his and it is immaculate. I am a Gemini and they are renowned for living today and neglecting tomorrow. I need to pull up my socks and get preparing for spring. I start off my veg in the greenhouse but once they are out I just use it as a junk yard.

Well for me it was lovely to have a chat with old friends so next time the call comes up, including new folks, pop in and just have a natter!

Now there was me thinking "we" were going to have a nice   l o n g  chat in this 'ere thread inside the shed.

I was wondering how many people would fit in and who was making the tea.  ::)

Fortunately I eventually read the posts that appear (on my screen) down there   (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-ashamed005.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php) I hadn't noticed the "Chat" icon at the top.  :-[

Perhaps after just a few more muddles and another couple of weeks I might get the hang of this place.  ;)

PP many moons ago Georgie kindly steered me in to chat. I was OK when 1/2 people were in there but grief when more people entered my poor old brain was doing somersaults to try and keep up lol.

Yes it can be a bit surreal if there are a lot of folk about!! Strands of conversation mingled randomly according to the typing speed of the contributor multiplied by a factor of the number of people present!!

Here's a probably stupid question....is chat in the shed at all like the googlechat facility? I use that to wibble with my daughter and that's OK, but I don't think I can learn anything else new computer-wise!

the chat facility is an instant messaging type thing. there's a large box where the messages appear, beneath which is a box you type into. just press 'return' to post your message, very easy to operate.

I gave it a go but found it very difficult to follow.

QuoteStrands of conversation mingled randomly according to the typing speed of the contributor

I think this just about sums it up.   Good thing I can type fast.

It can be an issue that there is no moderation.  Sometimes a contributor can have their own bizarre agenda.

You can speak privately in there if you wish.Would not want the job of moderating the chat when it is busy......you will always be two pages behind yourself.

The twits are normally ignored and get quickly bored and go.

I was in last night for a bit - been a long time since I was last in.

Think I'm guilty of typing to quickly!  Hazard of working with computers all day :)

More immediate than the main board and good fun - must try and get some wine for chat though ;)

Chat is brill, everyone talks rubbish, nice rubbish, and get loads of drinks passed round and sometimes chocolate.  It is easy to follow, so don't be afraid.  Let's all go on tonight for some good chats.  My granddaughter has really good chats with me in bed, but I am afraid that after an hour I go to sleep.  Just got to look up a recipe for all the lovely tomatoes.  Was good to see Admin (whatever) on there last night, so hope he joins in the fun again.
