Compared to what it used to be like.
Same old faces keeping it going...............100 plus guests sometimes with nothing to say.
Some evenings dull is the word. :(
Perhaps we're all suffering from end-of-season blues. I can't get as enthusiastic about winter cabbage as I can about trying new varieties in the spring. :)
Maybe so............don't think it is just that though.
When things get bit more 'exciting' here..there is always odd argument going on too..I don't miss those. I rather have dull than people not getting on..
Yes..I think is time of the year..lot of us had bit disappointed summer with crops...at the moment I'm getting ready for winter 'rest' and shoveling snow.. ;D ::)
Some nice seed swaps are just the right medicine for the 'dull' time of the year..it is exciting getting some envelopes and parcels delivered.. ;D ;D
But like with everything else..we need some 'dull' to appreciate the 'fun'.. ;)

I post on several boards, including political ones. I have huge viscious arguments with poeple. The point is to not take it personally. It doesnt mattre what you post here, no one outside a couple of hundred people will ever read it, and in 100 years itll all be deleted and gone. Its just bits and bytes, from an anonymous source. Some people get so worked up because somone on the internet is wrong, its pointless, have a huge row, let off steam, then forget about it.
It got very dull this time last year. It picked up in the new year once we could get back to discussing vegetables.
I also have often thought there were a lot of visitors.

Hmm..I wish I could. When I was younger I used to enjoy good 'debate'..but now, I don't like 'upsetting' people, if not when I'm face to face to them..then not on line neither. Occasionally odd moment does take over me..but I always find myself regretting it. I'm sure if I take some comments personally, many others do too...and it is not nice feeling.(http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-signs037.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)
But it doesn't mean that I don't stand on my ground if needs to be..If the pregnant dog is called for..she WILL come..(http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-rpg009.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)

Actually, this is supposed to be a friendly community of people interested in gardening. A good discussion is one thing, but when people continuously feel the need to make their own political point it becomes rather tiring and shows a lack of respect for the community we have. It also switches other people off because it's boring. Most people who post on here don't care about having an audience, they just want to get along & grow something nice to eat or look at.

My sentiments too, good post OllieC
Good post Ollie ;D
Its nice hereby the pool!
Maybe people are a bit shy about posting other than garden queries and responses because they don't feel part of the gang, I know it's not really like that but inevitably there gets to be a familiarity among regular posters. Other forums I belong to have sticky threads for games etc, but this forum is very focussed because of our mutual obsession...I've noticed some of the more rebarbative posters have gone quiet lately, discouraged at last? I like it, though, and I promise to post if I have anything interesting to say. Shut up at the back there!
Me personally it just feels winter is here early again >:( I haven't spent as much time at the plot as I would have liked :'( I have just come to the conclusion that it is a case of lighting the wood burner pipe and slippers out and getting my hands on as many seed catalogs as possible ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Ollie- excellent post.
Lottiman- I agree about the seed catalogues, but they all look so nice :D
wood burner pipe?, I've seen something like that on a caravan?
Gardening is never dull it can just take a while to brighten up :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Did some mention new varieties and catalogs....... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Next there's going to be a thread about excesssive use of little faces ??? ::) ??? ??? ::) ??? ::) ??? ::) ::)
Well if you don't want political points made on here don't make provision for it. ::)The Shed.
I suppose the point I am really making is too often it is the same set of posters, with many guests and people who log on yet have nothing to say.
I can understand staying off if you are new to it but the facts speak for themselves..
Glad to see mods posting now who had little to say at one point.
I've not commented much lately as there's been little to interest me, but I do stop by most days.
I find it hard to drum up the enthusiasm , especially with the onset of cold weather , especially in this economic climate :-\
Roll on the equinox, downhill to spring ;D
Its only dull because real exciting debate, fire in the belly passion, is supressed by the board censor.
You raise some interesting points but you present them in too frenzied a manner and I doubt many will take you seriously...........
I do like posters with a bit of passion though even if I don't agree with them.
A post was just put up stating that Jeaninne is banned. That isn't true. Anyone who wants to contact Jeannine can do so by PM.
