Recently a lady from our allotment site died and I went to her funeral this morning.
In the past when I have been to funerals I usually come out feeling a little down in the mouth.
Today I listened to a non religious service and came out feeling really good about things. Thats great when you get to my age.
I went to a Humanist funeral a few months ago and I came away feeling very positive.
Was the funeral you went to today a Humanist one?
Yes I think it was Squash.
The last service I went to made me feel really good but sad that I never knew the person. A friend (through tennis) of mine's wife died and they had a very small (close family only) funeral. Before that, however, they had a 'do' where, with slides, people who'd known her for years told stories, many of them amusing, all heart-warming. After that there was a buffet. I came away wishing like mad I'd known this wonderful woman but happy that my friend and his family had.
I have two plans:
a) Cremated, big party, then ashes used to mix with concrete and I want to be used to mortar a stone wall, or even moartar a toilet pan down in a public loo.
b)buried, lead lined oak coffin, filled with concrete, shoudl weigh close on 600Kg. Find a church where its 1/2 mile uphill to the graveyard, pick 6 people i dont like to carry it, on a really hot summer's day. With a bit of luck ill be able to take one or two of the *fatherless children* with me.
I like the plan B ;D (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-devil07.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)
