Title: Re-planting garlic
Post by: Anisemary on September 15, 2011, 23:49:37
Can I replant soft necked garlic harvested  just 4 or five weeks ago and dried off? The variety is Solent White.

I don't see why not... you may build up virus if you use your own bulbs long enough but once should be OK. The whole point of the bulb is to survive a dry season so having dried it off putting it back in now should be fine... don't think they have a pre-set dormancy like some old potato varieties..  :-\

As long as they're healthy you can replant them. How else would varieties be passed down? I haven't put mine in yet, but the walking onions are growing away nicely.
