Hi folks,
I have a blueberry in a pot that has produced some lovely fruit this year. It is in the polytunnel in a pot at the moment as very windy site and quite spindly.
Question is ... Do I prune it at all and if so when and how ?
Cheers
Adam
No..you do not need to prune blueberries.
However..in spring..if there is some growth that for some reason has died back..you can cut those out.
Generally keep any pruning for dead, diseased or damaged growth only=DDD.... ;)
You can cut out any twiggy tips, but don't need to prune until it's about 3 years old. I'd recommend putting it out in the cold for the winter though, as they need so many cold hours to break dormancy and fruit the next year. If the weather is really awful you could wrap straw and fleece around the pot. In the tunnel it runs the risk of waking up too soon because of the temperatures fluctuations.
