Title: Blue danube pots harvest
Post by: tomatoada on September 05, 2011, 10:51:29
I have started getting up my b/d pots and cooked some of them yesterday.  Before I give them marks out of 10 I would like to hear from anyone who has grown them.

I got some on the offer from T&M but haven't lifted them yet.

Mine were from T and M too.   So perhaps it is a bit soon to get them up.

I've grown a few the last couple of years, not that impressed. Too dry and floury for me though they are quite nice baked.

I grew them last year and found that they made the most wonderful mashed potato  ;D

I am growing them again this year [specifically for roasting and mashing], but have yet to lift them - however it is quite difficult to spot them all in the soil as they their skin is so dark!

Thanks for replies.   I found them tasteless boiled not mashed.    I will try them roasted, mashed or roasted.
So far I would not grow them again.

A good dollop of butter and black pepper in the mash makes them taste delicious ;D

I agree with you Tin Shed. They make good mash. I really do love the colour of their skins.
