Title: looking at getting chickens

Hi,
   I am looking at getting 6 chickens at the end of september. i quite like the look of rhode island reds or amber or isa browns. does anyone know where i can get some from in the tamworth area please

Hi Clackvalve,

I'm not sure if you've thought of it, but have you considered some ex-battery hens?  They don't look great to start with but mine have always recovered quickly and laid well.  They do seem to go off lay a little more easily and produce eggs of various shapes but mine are much more friendly than my hybrid girls.

They usually cost around £3 a bird, which is a lot less than I paid for my hybrids and there are loads of different people so rescues are pretty frequent as well.
