Title: Banker extort their money
Post by: Digeroo on August 15, 2011, 15:25:16
The bank has my money most of the time and pays a tiny amount of interest on it.  Due to s stight oversight I became overdrawn on one of my accounts, there was plenty in another one.  I had. to pay 17p interest.  But they also charged me £5 overdraft charjge.  Talk about printing money.

Challenge them - it's well worth the postage & you might strike lucky.

Organise an overdraft on the account, you still get charged interest but won't get caught for the fee.

I laugh when I get a paper bill (internet normally) sent to me because I'm being charged a penny or 2 interest. Yep, that's them spending ~ 50p to get a penny back! No wonder you got charged so much  :'(

Well worth complaining though cos that fee is just silly.

I am with the Halifax and they have high interest rates even for authorised overdrafts.  £1 per day interest regardless if you are 1p or £2500 overdrawn;  £2 per day for £2501-5000.

Doesn't matter what overdraft charges are if you don't spend more than you have.

Way back I went over accidentally, got a snotty letter saying they weren't aware I had overdraft facility's with them, I paid up and put more money into the account.

Later they put £10000.00 into the account and took it out again, so I wrote them a tongue in cheek letter saying I wasn't aware I had given then permission to use my account for money laundering and would they please stop.
Got a letter back apologizing and £25.00 for the inconvenience.
