So we are all booked and all set for the 14th..this coming Sunday.
Being picked up at 5am for the 3/12 hour ride to the start, then down the river at 9am , finished at 4.30.
I have bought a single use waterproof camera preloaded with film so should have pictures..
I have no idae what to wear, they say swimsuit and shorts..I don't think so LOL..and no cotton so I will have to pop out and pick up something else that dries quick.
It has taken 22 years to realise this dream..I hope I don't make too much of a fool of myself and I can hang on.
I am needless to say leaving my mobility scooter at home .
I am getting very very excited now, I couldn't sleep last night.
All tips gratefully accepted.
You gotta do what you gotta do eh?
One good thing if I do get scared, I shall have wet trousers from the spray anyway so it won't show.

Brilliant

No tips other than to hold on :)
How exciting for you!
I hope it all goes really well and you have some fun!
Hold on tight ;D
Good luck for Sunday Jeannine!! :)
Have a wonderful time. I'll be thinking of you & wishing you well. I can't wait to see the pictures ;D.
Have a wonderful time Jeannine xxx
looking forward to hearing all about it
Maybe a "wee shot" of something for after :)
only tip I can think of. Hold on for dear life!! I would!
Have a great time
Put the camera on a long cord around your neck - then, if it takes both hands to hold on, you won't lose your camera.
Have a really great time - hold on like mad, and take lots of photos..... oh perhaps forego the photos if you have to hold on !! lol

I can't wait to see the pics Jeannine. Don't forget women can multi task so hold on with one hand and do your David Bailey with the other. Or you could tie yourself to the raft and then you would have both hands free.
Apart from the jokes. Have a brilliant time
Have a great time - you're obviously much braver than I am. Happy snapping.
I am still figuring out what to wear. Some folks have told me to wrap up warm yet it was 31 there yesterday and 27 forecast for tomorrow.
I think John is getting a bit worried now, he keeps looking at me funny. It will be a long day for him as we leave at 5am and won't be back till about 9pm
Oooh..nearly there

;D ;D ;D ;)
We should have supplied her with a Smartphone so we could have had an on-the- spot-live-video-feed report!!!!!
She's back..
Oh what a blast, we were right at the front of the raft where it is more bouncy and the water soaks you.I need not have worried about my back the life
jacket acted as a super back support and hed me firm all day.
We were on the river about 6 hours all told, it was very high so very fast moving, going through Hells Gate I waved to the heavens to my Dad and discreetly chucked a thin paper parcel containing some of his and Mums ashes in the water.
I have never laughed so much in all m y life.
Getting in and out of the raft was a bit tricky but I made to when needed.
Sadly we saw a baby bear dead in the water.
The scenery was wonderful,I had an underwater camera and got a lot of photos as did the young msn who took me and he got lots of me.These have to go to the store to be processed so it will be a few days before I can get them on here.
Oh and I got a posh certificate too.
Reallt wonderful adventure.

Well done you. Something to tick off your to do list ;D. I bet John feels relieved you came home safe ;).
Back again next week then? ;)
You do sound like you had time of your life ;D..and what a wonderful thing to do with some ashes.
I had an underwater camera
;D Were you prepared for plenty of underwater shots then.. :-X ;)
I do hope you didn't do many dives :o
6 hrs is a long time...did it feel that long? I bet you body feels it today.
How do keep on the raft..is it all just 'grab hold and wish luck' thing or do they strap you on somehow?
wonderful jeannine, and good to hear you are back on dry land safe and sound :)
6 hours. Do you feel as if you have been through the washing washing?
Congratulations Jeannine, What a life enhancing experience by the sound of it. Really looking forward to seeing your pics. busy_lizzie xx
Brilliant so thrilled for you !!
Glad you enjoyed yoursellf ;D

So what's next. ;D

Hi folks, well I seem to have no after effects. I slept like a baby last night and overslept this morning.
Sadly we didn't get dunked, I was a bit cheesed off about that LOL.
Goodlife, no they don't strap you on, you are just sitting on the pontoon sides, there is a rope between your kness to hold onto and that is it.
No need to do it again, been there done that now..
I would reccomend it though if anyone gets the chance, it was very thrilling.
The underwater camera was because you get soaked, the water crashes over you all the time so a regular camera would be ruined.
So off to do the laundry now.
Thank you for the support, you are a grand bunch
Now what was that idea about sky diving years ago.......................
XX Jeannine
Sounds really thrilling, glad you had a great time ;D
Jeannine, it sounds like you had a fantastic time WELL DONE that girl!!!!! :P :-*.
I bet you are still on a high aren`t you. How brave you are.
Now i have heard of a club wanting volunteers to ride on the wing of a plane, now let me see i have your address somewhere here ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.
Ha Ha , don't tempt me Rosebud..anyway not today, I had 10 large Sockeye salmon come unexpected yesterday so I am canning..all day.
I have to admit, I do feel adventurous, I always fancied crossing the country in a covered wagon..I wonder if they do re enactment holidays...oooh I must look inot that.
I can just see myself trading mufffins for pumkin seeds with the Indians.

Jeannine, I'm so glad it all went ok and hooray for you for taking some ashes to let go.
I know what you mean about those life jackets, the instructor pulled mine so tight I could barely breathe - but on the plus side I had a nice chin rest! hahahaha.
I did find after about an hour that the way in which we told to sit really made my back ache though. Unlike you, we were IN the boat, three across, if I remember rightly. We had to sit with one leg crossed over the other at the ankle - with very little room to change position. Spoilt my trip a bit.
I can't believe you were sat on the outside of the boat just clinging on for life - must have been soooo exciting - and wet!! Were there lots of big ups and downs? I've seen that Hells Gate! :o
Really, really pleased it was all that you'd hoped for x
San it was super, the more rough it got the better I liked it. I kaughed till ny ribs hurt.
I could not have sat like you did, no way, so when you come back you will have to go with the company I went with...Kumsheena,, look them up and you will see the video and the difference in the rafts.
It feels great to realise a dream
