Title: Flowering Damson
Post by: marcitos on July 26, 2011, 21:41:50
Hi

Have got a Merryweather Damson flowering at the moment. Any reason for this? I had something similar happen with a pear tree a couple of years ago, but in late summer.

Most likely reason is the weather..temperatures are not the usual sort for the time of the year..it is just confused about it.

I planted a Merryweather Damson  this spring.  It  flowered,  and  I did not  expect any  fruit....but  it has  set about 5 large  damsons. If that  helps.

Thanks for your answers. Still flowering well. I don't think it flowered in Spring. Pity there isn't anything else flowering that could polinate it. Hopefully, it'll flower at the right time next year.

The Damson has started to fruit. Should I let it continue to see what happens or will I be risking a possible crop next year?
