Title: Britain's youth, for heaven's sake
Post by: non-stick on July 23, 2011, 10:21:06
Pull your blooming trousers up, it looks naff, or like you've had a little "accident", and I'm sick of seeing your pants!!

;D ;D ;D...yes same for both sexes..and..why don't they wear clother that fit..instead letting their spare bits flab about all over the place. I don't mind people being diffent shapes and sizes but having two sizes too small clothers is not atractive. ::)

I seem to remember drainpipes and brothel creepers, massive flares and afghan coats, followed by shoulder pads and mullets. When was youth fashion ever sensible?

Very true and I wore bondage trousers back in my youth but trousers buttoned under your bum so your pants are hanging out must be the naffest yet - one lad the other day looked like he'd tried to squeeze into his little brother's trousers. He looked, let's face it, an idiot.

When I was a young girl, there were a lot of sundresses I would never have worn because I always had to wear a bra and many are designed to be worn without.

But girls today seem to have no problem with it.  So you see a chubster in a racerback dress with an old grey bra underneath.  Why do they think this is a good look?  Their mothers should have a word.  Or just buy them a full length mirror.

It's the droopy trousers on boys that drive me nuts.  And of course, the Daisy Duke shorts on chubby girls that really should know better.

That said, I used to have Flock of seagulls style hair and wear cropped trousers with frilly shirts.  Thank god the eighties rolled on.

I find that a comment such as 'nice pants!' gets them to pull their trousers up a bit!! ;)

Not very clear but the mother is saying "Your dad will stop wearing his trousers like that when you do"

Not only the youth.  I saw a woman in her thirties a good size 24 wearing a pair of skin tight leggings.  You could see every budge as well as the complete outline of her two sizes to small knicks.

But when I was young my skirts were so short it barely covered my undies.  But I had a nice set of legs then.

I asked about the fashion of trousers hanging (dangerously :o) low and was told they are worn to emulate the trousers of prisoners who are not allowed belts!!!! Not sure how many of the wearers know this though.
I remember a lad calling for me in the sixties wearing floral shirt and jacket, bell bottom trousers, stack heel chelsea boots and his coiffured hair was longer and looked better than mine. ;D
My parents were very amused but I thought he looked fantastic. 8)

I agree with grawrc.  They are only young and daft for such a short time, let them dress how they please, it entertains us old miseries and we can snigger and raise our eyebrows.

Every single one of us must have made a fashion faux pas once in our lives?  It would be a very boring place if we all wore matching 'sensible' clothes. You only live once.... long time dead and all that.

Lets be honest - we all wish we could be young and daft again - wear short skirts and high heels and feel like the bees knees.

I used to buy my underwear to match my mini skirts, they were that short when I was a size 6..

Actually I saw a lady today that  had to be bigger than me and I am 22 now, she had shorts and spaghetti top with incompatible boobs flying in all directions but you know I admired her very much, she was cool and comfortable and quite happy with herself whereas I was in long jeans and long sleeves and it was hot.. now I ask ya , which one is the dope!!

The thing I remember about fashion was my first formal trouser suit, I was very nervous as they were very uncommon and suits were only worn by men then..boy or boy there was whispering behing hands the day I walked out in that.It seems incredible to believe that now.

We dare not let a bra strap show, not even a wee bit and certainly no coloured bras beneath a light fabric..that was considered very slutty.

I later got a pair of hipster trousers with a matching top that fit just under my bosom, black with a silver trim. I was showing a fair bit including my navel..gosh I thought I was wicked dancing in that!!

And what about the hot pants and white stretch boots that came later..cheeky eh.

Yep I agree let them have fun, won't be long before they wear plain white cotton knickers and sensible shoes..

Some of us men never got round to wearing short skirts and high heels and I doubt I'd have felt like the bees knees if I had.

well, I even have work colleagues that come in in baggy jeans and to be honest I am not really comfy looking at their dacks over the top of their jeans which are down around their thighs. And really truly I am far from being a prude but I think that some things are not really appropriate in the workplace! I've not said anything though...

the boys wearing their jeans low is bad enough but girls wearing thongs and then bending down showing more than the boys at least they  wear under pants that cover their rears  :o

Hi all, being spurred on by the other thread regarding lurking and not posting I thought I would pipe up  ;D

This thread is really making me laugh and now being the age where I could rightfully star in any of the 'Grumpy guide to...' TV programmes I also have a good moan about what the youth of today get up to, but as has been said before let them get it out of their system, they'll have to grow up soon enough - although I have to admit I am no fan of gangster inspired fashion (or music) to be honest, why anyone would want to emulate criminals or prisoners is beyond me.

Judging by the age of the kids and the trouser situation with some of the rioters here in london. I think some of them may well find out first hand if the reason behind the dangerously low level of waistband is a prisoners lack of belt  or "availability" for propostions

I still remember my little nan (4'9" tall) opening the door to my boyfriend, who was 6'1" tall, shaved hair on both sides except a dyed red and black Mohican tied back, bondage trousers, ripped vest etc..., who did not bat an eyelid, just craned her head back to look up at him and said, 'Hello love, you must have come to pick up Debbie......." bless her. Oh yeah, and he's my husband now! ;D

...............even funnier, our 18 year old daughter was looking at some old photos of us as teenagers at a party, sniggering over their clothes and hairstyles and then said 'He's nice mum, who's that bloke in the background?" I had a look and had to break it to her........"That's your dad love!!!!!!" She stopped screaming after about 10 minutes! ;D ;D ;D  Funny how they can't imagine us ever being younger eh?!

It's not just teenagers who have lousey dress sense ! I live right next to the sea and tourists walk past on their way to the beach all the time.Honestly!! you would think half of them got dressed in the dark !! either that or wherever they are staying has no mirrors!!!! OH and I sit in the garden some times and actually roll about laughing at some of the people who pass by! I can imagine one of those "fashion" people from TV being here!! They would have a field day !!  ;D
