Title: Goldfinch
Post by: gertie50 on July 18, 2011, 15:25:16
I've just been looking outside, (what lousy weather we're having). But the day soon brightened up when the goldfinches came into the tree. I did notice that one of the goldfinches had a pink ring on its leg. Anyone know if there's a survey going on anywhere? I looked on the RSPB website but can't see any info there.

Gertie.

Lucky you! You'll find ringing information on the BTO site - http://www.bto.org/

Godfinches had never visited my garden until I bought a niger seed feeder.

They have been feeding throughout the day today - beautiful birds

Bird fondlers will ring anything that gets into one of their mist nets

They are beautiful birds and agree with the niger seed feeder Debs, they love 'em, I have this wonderful view whilst washing my pots!

Try putting out Sunflower Hearts. The Goldfinches will abandon the Niger seed. I have both side by side and the Goldfinches jardly ever eat the Niger seed.
