Post by: Hector on July 16, 2011, 15:11:30
I hve mini white cucumbers who are climbing up a thick bamboo cane. They are o i put in canes at 45 degree angles and tie to these or do I tie up to roof of greenhouse :)

Does this help??

Ours are tied - not self supporting enough.

Yes - I'm 6'3", but I dug a foot down to give me a bit more headroom. Still not enough!!

Does it increase the yield of each plant, Tim. Looks like the plants are bigger!! My Father was just shy of your height and put his greenhouse on brick walls ...I used to have to stand on a ladder to help tie off plants :)

Yield? You mean by training across the roof? The only other way - apart from trailing on the ground - is to stop at roof height & let 2 laterals trail down. Doesn't work for me.

Size? Different varieties look differebt? Ours are Passandra - a 6-8" fruit.

This is how they look before when they first hit head height.
