WHY does this happen every year?
They start off fine & then.............
Do you start with fresh plants every year or are you able to over winter yours? Does this happen no matter where you try to grow it..are you growing it same area every year?
Do you water yours with hose with mains water?
No - yes - pass - yes - no!
Mine don't do that...then again I didn't actually want them in the first place so they are big and healthy. Wilkinson's Globe artichokes= Cardoons usually.
Speaking of which my globe artichokes were stolen a couple of weeks ago :'(
;D..ok that was clear..
More questions..have you use fertilizer on that ground?..or is the plant near lawn..could any lawn fertilizer got to near that plant?
I suppose you see where my questions lead..that looks awful lot like scorch of some sort... :-\
Do you grow it for flower or eating?..does the plants tend to die or just stay looking browned..?
Mine are looking abit tatty right now after some strong gales recently. I,m only growing them for their gorgeous flamboyant silvery blue foliage ..so I,m going to cut mine back to make it grow lusher and at a lower height .
Hello
Ive found that mine were very thirsty plants and hated the dryish spot i orignally had them in. Try moving them to a damper place? for next year.
good luck

Well ours are on the corner of the plot and we have never watered them. They get weed infested and still they survive. I will take a pic tomorrow for you. A member on here Emma Jane sent me some seed when I first joined A4A and they have been going strong ever since.
I've given up trying to grow them. I suspect it's the winter waterlogging; they never thrive.
