Title: Advice on buying my first petrol lawnmower
Post by: kt. on July 10, 2011, 23:35:29
I am looking at buying a petrol lawnmower and have narrowed it to two choices but have only owned electric ones before.  My current one has finally given up the ghost so advice welcome please:

My first option is this but no weight is listed in the details, but one of the reviews says it is quieter than most, which is also appealing:

My second option is this but some weigh as little as 19kg, this is a whopping 34 kg which could be heavy to push.

After having two cheap ones that didn't last I pushed the boat out and bought a Honda model last year. It's brilliant, starts easily, self-propelled and easy height adjustment. Yes it was expensive but the last two were false economies in the end.

I bought a Mountfield from B&Q, It's not the self propelled one but wouldn't be without it now. Talk about easy start, first pull every time(Bet it doesn't now) ;D

I use a mountfield my father bought in 1970. It still starts first or second pull. It seriously powerful, it will chop a brick in half if you run over one.

Thanks for the replies.  Bought the Spear & Jackson with the brigg and stratton engine as the qualcast was a bit on the heavy and large side. (plus I only have a shed for storage, not a tardis ;D)
