Thank you for all the kind suggestions in my original post regarding what to take a friend to enjoy in hospital. Sadly I have just learnt another young friend is to be admissed for a trachectomy. She will have a feeding tube fitted so am unable to take usual stuff when I visit. Any suggestions what I could take to cheer her up. Thank you in anticipation.
Handcreams can be welcome. I got given a nice soft set of foam earplugs....they were a godsend due to other ward folks snoring :)
If she hasn't got one something like an I-pod would be ace
:)
Lottie Lou, had a thought,if she has an ipod you could get her an Apple music voucher o download some tunes?
a quality hand creme is a good idea. my mum was given lavender hand creme which she said was relaxing, because as with most people she sleeps with her hands near her head and could smell the lavender.
pinapple juice is very good for the mucosa of the mouth and it is recommended in mouth care of people who are unable to eat or drink. it can be used with the hospital mouth care packs.
hope your friend is on the road to recovery soon.
I would go with noise defender and a eye patch thing for blocking out the noise it does not help with a good nights sleep. You might want to get some audio books local library can suggest some and youth ones i dont think have a charge.
If there in for any amount of time speak to the ward sister about getting hair washed and cut in the hospital salon most have them :) that will really help :)
And a couple of notepads and pens for jotting down feelings etc :)
