The sparrows in my garden have already bred in two of the nesting boxes. However I noticed today that several birds are flying back and forth to one particular box. Do sparrows breed more than once?
Yes they'll often have three broods between May and July.
Thank you for that Flighty! Unfortunately it will mean that O/H will not be able to finish painting his breeze block shed until later on. It wil be worth the wait though as this is the first year that the sparrows have used not only thir nesting boxes but the ones specifically for tits!
If Sparrows are using a nest box you had designated for Tits then unfortunately the entrance hole is too big.
I have a sparrow colony around my roof and i just love the constant chirruping and comming and going and the way they eat all the cabbage white catterpillars of the broccoli and all the aphids of the roses.
Good luck with the second brood.
They are welcome here and a bit of raggedy eaves is a small price to pay for such good pest control.

Yes I also enjoy watching them in the garden as they are such active little birds. They even had the cheek today to display their affection right in front of my eyes! lol
As regards the box now being unsuitable for the tits, I will have no hesitation in providing them with a new box in a different part of my garden.
you can never have too many sparrows. i love them to bits
Tony made a spug hotel a few years ago and its now covered by clematis monta. We must have had 6 broods of sparrows this year
