What have you given away this year, so far I have given away strawberries, red currants, peas. One new man had enough broad beans and beetroot to give some to the man that helped him when he got the allotment, and he was so excited to be able to share. It is good to give and good to receive. Expect it will be courgettes and runner beans next (I hope). ;D ;D ;D
I took some bunches of parsley into work yesterday, they went down well! And I like to share whatever I get with my friends. They always assume it's because I've got a glut, but I never do - I just enjoy them more when I share them.
Parsley and chard. Four courgettes so far and some parsley volunteer seedlings. Been given some broad beans and lupin seeds.
Strawberries to 7 neighbours and several lottie folk, lettuce, raspberries and blackcurrants, potatoes, herbs, swiss chard and sweet peas.I find giving stuff away one of the greatest pleasures of growing. We have wonderful neighbours both at home and on the lottie so it's lovely to share with them. :)
Many of our lottie friends are very generous and often they have what we're short of :)
Sadly I've had nothing to give away yet this year except flower and vegetable seeds earlier in the year.
Very kind plot neighbours have given me rhubarb, cherries and a cucumber.
I've no doubt that there'll be plenty more giving and receiving over the coming months.
Shes not given me anything. :'(
But I did give my Mum and Dad some, runners, rockets, beetroot, onions and shallots the other day. ;D
Today I gave cherries and a couple of beets away and got a load of raddishes in return.
One the things I love about my site is the generousity of my fellow plotholders. Last year a lost most of my tom plants to a late frost but was immediately given more replacements than I could use..
Oh, now let's see - given away seed potatoes, runner bean plants, veg and flower seeds and seedlings, a fuschia and peonies. I've been given a cold frame, 2 no idea tomato plants (the giver got them given and had no idea what variety they are) cuttings and strawberry plants so far.
About 300 assorted tomato plants, dozens of assorted squash, cukes, onion transplants for other plot holders and 33 starter packs of seeds, each with 17 varieties of veggies in for the newbies that started this year,we have an orientation day so they got them there. Many of the seeds came from you guys in various swaps so your A4A stuff is now growing all around me.
They are thrilled they are growing stuff they can't get here.
Thank you all.
Assorted plants (pumpkins, squash, gherkins, asparagus, tomatoes, chillis, peppers) and some beetroot, received some plants (welsh onions, horseradish) and was given a truly delicious tennis-ball sized kohl-rabi
I've given away lots of lettuce, coriander, mint, redcurrents, gooseberries, and beetroot, and sent some seeds out, received some pumpkin seeds (doing very nicely) and some bay which I thought at one point was touch and go, but has pulled through, I am being given some Jerusalem artichokes at the end of the summer. :)
My 2 new best mates on the allotment and I are going to have an annual swap between us which is really cool.. 8)
Unfortunately this year I haven't had such a good crop so I have barely had enough for myself. But I have given away some spuds and garlic and tomato plants.
I got a few seeds in swaps and was given 5 melon plants from a guy at work, which are actually growing really well to my surprise. But I have not had a lot of sharing this year. Maybe when the tomatoes and courgettes get going?
