Title: any ideas?
Post by: shirlton on June 29, 2011, 18:59:00
This weed is rampant all over my little plot I have never seen it before. Does anyone know what it is and is it easy to eradicate?

Oh I am sorry. Put it down to my age and a hard day at the plot. The pic is a bit bright The small flowers are white with yellow centers

Not too sure from the photo, but could be garlic mustard?

If it is you can eat it. Tastes like spicy garlic (strangely enough!). Alternatively just keep pulling it up before it seeds. It's only an annual but does tend to get everywhere is you let it seed.

Nope..not hedge garlic..leaves are different..
I can't find that in any of my weed wild flower books..I wonder if the seeds have come from bird feed?..or have you had some sort of manure spread on you plot recently?

It's know on our site as "the superweed that we all got from a load of manure one year" because for a little plant it has a big root system when you pull it up.  And it's all over the place - grrr.

Have just read about it. I have never known a weed to bounce back so quickly after weeding.. I don't think you would want any seeds goodlife but if you do then I will send you your very own plants. Even if you ate it you would still have too much.

I just dug this post up again as I was talking about this plant with somebody recently.
Has anybody who got growing on their plots got round to tasting them?...what did they taste like?
NOPE...I'm not going to grow it..just curious  ::)
