Title: Strange metallic taste in mouth - solved!
Post by: OllieC on June 27, 2011, 09:02:28
I thought I'd post here as I know you like you salads & in case anyone else has been affected. For the past 10 days I've had a terrible metallic taste whenever I eat anything & having assumed it was a cold or something, I've finally worked out what it is.

One of the 30-odd species of pine nuts can cause something called "Pine Mouth" - it doesn't start immediately after eating them so I hadn't made the link. We bought some pine nuts from H&B instead of Sainsburys a couple of weeks back & that's when it started. Great to have worked out what it is, but I bet there must be plenty of others out there who are suffering from this & haven't worked out why...

Anyone else had this?

I got it the other week when I was taking strong antibiotics. Apparently thats normal. Handy info about pine nuts though
