Title: 1 year old bushes , what should I do?
Post by: PeterVV on June 15, 2011, 19:05:38
I have  1 year old black currant & gooseberry bushes, and also 2 apple trees that I put in in the winter, what should I be doing with them now?, I cut down the blackcurrants when I put them in , and they are producing growth for fruiting next year, should I be doing anything with them?

Personally I would leave them until they have outgrown the space you have allocated for them. A lady on the next plot to us has a blackcurrant tree ;D. She never prunes it gets more fruit each year ;D.

Let them grow. Prune the gooseberries in the autumn, but let the apples alone for a year ot two to get established before you prune them.
