Title: Rainwater diverter doesn't work
Post by: caroline7758 on June 12, 2011, 17:44:24
It's pourng down here and my water butt is full but the diverter isn't working- the water is just overflowing and ouring down onto my patio. I think the problem is that the butt is about a meter from the downpipe so the pipe from the butt to the diverter dips in the middle. Any solutions, please?

Any thing IE leaves etc that get into the water but float on the top so they are drawn into the outlet pipe, it may just be blocked

Tie a hefty straight bamboo cane to the droopy pipe?

If the butt is full the problems does not seem to be the dip in the pipe, would suggest that your diverter is higher then the top of the butt.  Suggest pushing the diverter and or the downpiipe down a bit.

Thanks, will try these out. We've already raised the butt slightly to make it level with the diverter.

remove and clean the diverter inside the pipe.
my waterbutt is abour 3m from the diverter gadget, I used a length of 'overflow' pipe clipped to the wall.
