Title: growing cabbages and other brassicas under fleece
Post by: RenishawPhil on June 10, 2011, 21:53:39
Have.put all brassicas under fleece this y :-Xear to protect from nastys and they all seem to be doing really well. The was a small bed that wasn't.under fleece and they were slow growing until fleeced and now thriving.

Anyone else grow their brassicas under fleece like this?

i use debris netting it last longer and lets more light and water in, aswell as still creating its own micro climate to speed up growth.

I've not tried using fleece with cabbages etc, like hippydave I use debris netting and find this great. I wonder if a bit later in the year it may get a bit warm under fleece for brassicas?

i grow mine under netting, with collars, ive noticed lately a few of them looking "peaky" when i pulled one up it was rootless, bloody root fly, we had strong winds recently and the collars were dislodged, i replaced them but it seems too late, will they all be infected ?? shall i compost them and start again ??  any advise will be more than welcome..  :)
