Hi y'all, I'm new to your site and still finding my way around, but for now I wondered if any of you guys 'n' gals have had experience growing kiwi fruit. I bought a couple from an Aldi store some 3 years ago and to my delight one of them has set fruit this year! Does anyone know the rule on pruning? I have read the fruits are produced on two year old wood and older, is this right? Cheers for now :D
Hi antsinmipants, welcome to A4A!
I grew one some years ago but I never really got to serious pruning as it just died on me over the winter. I wouldn't have thought it was too damp at the roots and it wasn't a particularly hard winter, so I haven't tried again.

Thanks for your respones. I believe the plants are 'Jenny and I have just noticed the second one has a couple of fruits as well! They are both in my 15x8 foot polytunnel at opposite ends and appear much happier in there than they had been in their outdoor place up until this season. I'm assuming the warmer conditions have something to do with the fruiting, but I do believe the can become rather large plants. I also have a Boskoop Glory Grapevine growing in the tunnel so I suspect things could become a little cramped sooner rather than later. :-[
