Title: Runners missing their tops
Post by: pye on May 27, 2011, 21:05:30
Hello everyone,

I've lost the tops of several runner plants at around 12" high (the strong wind tore them from their ties). The plants are otherwise healthy and are already putting out side shoots.

My question is: Will I still get a decent crop just from the side shoots, or should I cut my losses and replace them?

Any advice gratefully received.

They will recover. It might set them back a bit, but not as much as setting new plants. Remember they have already established their roots.

No need to tie beans; they soon start to climb on their own.
