But lets have a big cheer for Betty aka squash 64. You could not find a nicer, helpful person I needed a few helpers to get me out of a tight spot. Quick as a flash she had a small team queueing up to help.
I've lost count of reading the requests for help on this site. Somebody soon jumps in and solves the problem, so all give yourselves a pat on the back, but Betty has gone beyond the call of duty. She's a diamond geezeress.
NOTICE= no members of A4A or owners of Nissan Micra's were hurt in the making of this testimonial. (even the brummies were spared) ;D
Well done Betty :) :) I am sure we would all help you Ace if we could, I love your show gardens :)
did you meet Grandad as well ;D
It's very kind of Ace, but all I did was to ask a few people if they would give him a hand at the NEC next weekend. We have some lovely people on our site and I had no problem finding people willing to help.
I won't be going to meet Ace, my Micra doesn't go further than the allotments and the local shops. (but maybe he would like to visit us at the allotments, I'll ask him) I'm hoping that Grandad and his new woman will go, that's if I can persuade one of the helpers that there is nothing wrong in carrying two life-sized scarecrows past lots of people.
Hopefully there will be photos....
Three cheers for Betty. Hip hip hooray ;D ;D
So nice to hear things that restore faith in human nature after all the horrors we get exposed to every day! Gardening brings out the best in you!
Make sure they bring back grandad and not Ace, I'm sure they'll find it hard to tell the difference. ;)

I'll be meeting him soon, he's going to be the gaffer on the site. That will keep us on our toes. I expect we will go clubbing later if he can loose that old sort that he's been tucked up with lately.
A few pints and a bit of dad dancing we should be in with a chance of pulling, but if all fails we can always go down to the village hall and take our pick at the 'ladies bright hour' We have it on good authority that down there the more sprightly old girls wear knickers that match their socks.
and they don't wear socks ;)
;D ;D ;D
;D ;D ;D
:o
Are you doing a show garden? I nice experience for the helpers as well.

Yes it is a show garden and yes we hope it will be an experience and an eye opener. One of our other members on this site has been another diamond for a few years now. She won't mind me mentioning her. Last year she pretended to be one of the crowd and walked onto the garden and started filling her bag with plants when we were having the sell off at the end of the show, much to the crowds amazement. She works hard, but I am sure she enjoys the break away from proper gardening. Step into the limelight DA., DADA DAAAA, lets have a big hand for Tin Shed in her polkadot socks. ;)
There is and has always been an invitation to anybody on this site that wants the experience of working on a show garden with us, just send me a pm and we will see if we can fit you in.
When I mentioned to one of the helpers that Granddad and Grandma would be going with them to the NEC he looked at me as though I'd gone bonkers.
He said there was no way he would be carrying scarecrows from the car to the show garden. I offered to get a wheelchair for them. He still thought I was bonkers.
What's wrong with people today? ???
Don't worry, we will photoshop him into the finished garden. ;D
Squash, you just can't get the staff these days. Although I do get some funny looks from friends when I say one of my friends on FB is a scarecrow, what's the problem ::) ;D.
GJ, I'm so used to having a scarecrow sitting next to me in the car I don't give it a second thought until I get funny looks from people.
Grandma is sitting on a chair in the front room at the moment. My dogs are so used to having scarecrows around the house they don't take any notice of them.

Good idea because short of torture, I can't think of a way of persuading the bloke to bring him.
Could you put him on the train with his destination tag round his neck ?
Good luck with the garden build. I hope you all have a great time and that we get to see it on GW and maybe some pics on here too.
