Title: Rhubarb has disappeared?
Post by: cambourne7 on May 22, 2011, 17:37:41
Hi All,

HELP?

Checked my rhubarb which i had a dustbin lid over about 2 weeks ago and it was fine the stems were a bit thin but i though another week or 2 and i would have enough for a crumble. Just been out and the entire plants gone.

OK, not quite true i have a black burnt bit of a plant left in the ground but nothing else?

What have i done wrong?

Cam

Thankfully i have the other rhubarb plant uncovered and its fine :) So crumbles back on the menu :)

You say dustbin lid....what about the rst of the dustbin....if you only use the lid and you are left with burnt offerings I can only imagine the lid and rhubarb were touching..the lid got too hot and the rhubarb burned.....might be wrong!!

Plant has pulled itself underground to conserve water, much too late to force, It has been stressed and thought hey ho better go into hibernation.
