Well, my strimming has been going well but I decided last week that I was going to use weed killer this year to get the garden up to a decent standard before switching to organic methods.
I have about 400sq metres of garden space so what do people think of this to do the weed killing?

and a one of these to spray it in

Looks fine price wise. Had a gander at your blog and I'd be buying 2 bottles of glyphosate - it is a jungle out there. Good luck :)

Hehe, thanks :) It's certainly going to take some work, but it's not the weeds I'm worried about. My grandad was a horder and the cabin is littered with rubbish, as well as the old cabin which hasn't been used in years. There's also an old aloy caravan in the back of the garden and I still have no idea how to discard of everything.
just had a look at hombase web site, and its £16.49 a ltr

If you really want a lot...
http://www.pitchcare.com/shop/glyphosate-based-herbicides-and-weed-killers/rosate-36-5l-glyphosate.html
5L comes to ~£50 with VAT and delivery. Only difference is the homebase stuff is 96g/L and this stuff is 360g/L, that 5L bottle will do ~10 000m2
Hope this helps
Concider a spare watering can to do this with. Often when spraying weedkiller it tends to drift!

I know, this is something that I'm worried about as would hate to ruin next doors crops. Should I just get another watering can instead of the pump spray?
I've used glyphosate for a long time it is very good but you have to give it time to work. It's very expensive so use only on weeds such as couch grass, bind weed, covolvulous?brambles I also have mares tail so I paint on the weedkiller neat with an artists brush and cover with clear plastic container. For other weeds I cover my plot with black plastic.Do you know any farmers as they are issued with a holding number and are able to get their version cheaper(it's still glyphosate)I managed to get agallon of the stuff and I've had it over 3 years now using a solution of 10ml to 1ltrAnyway good luck
Our associtaion supplies "swift" at £5.50 a pint, mix 10ml per gallon, It is very good.
One regret is that I did not renew my spraying licence for Paraquat and Dicot this killed weeds in minutes.

Up to you but a spray can be OK as long as it is a very still day. For large areas a watering can might be preferable..

I think I'll just go with the watering can method. Last thing I want is to ruin next door on my first week.

That's the one that I use. Watering can or spray will be fine - if you have a big area the watering can will probably be quicker. :)

Thanks, based on what people have told me I'm going with the watering can method. I bought a nice big shiny red one yesterday (so I know that red is for weed killer!). I just finished the last of the strimming last night. I'm eager to get the weed killer on, but how long should I wait after strimming?
Didn't mean to suggest anybody breaks the law, there ws nothing obvious on the web site to suggest you needed a certificate etc but then I didn't go all the way to the final checkout so wasn't asked for proof of certificate etc. Stumbled upon it aftera google search.
Use much nastier stuff at work but hey ho there you go...
Anytime after strimming will be fine - its a good time of year as everything is in growth mode so systemic weedkillers are more effective..
