I can't get over how fast everything is growing, one of ours has 2 trusses open with a third forming. I've got some more growing so we get a longer season :)
and mine... ;D ;D
[attachment=1]
..any more photos that I 'have to' follow.. ;) ;D
Holy crap! How did you guys do that? Are you feeding them nuclear waste???
Mine have just been planted outside, they are all about 15cm high! But I know that they soon catch up, weather here is still sunny although it has cooled off since our scorching April season.
I couldn't have expressed it any better Antipodes!!
;D ;D
funny you should say that, it's the first year we've used our own compost to grow in, buckets with the bottom cut out, usually use growbag stuff, ours must be nuclear ;D
No pics but mine in the greenhouse are going nuts too - also in my own compost!!
mine in the greenhouse are going nuts too, mine are in bog standard B&Q stuff although I think that had been given a dose of grown=more.
Ive got loads of flowers on mine too
I put it all down to weather..its absolutely bonkers..usually I only start planting little things into border now..but mine have been planted for a month now..they would have been seriously pot bound otherwise.
Well..can't complain...if the rest of the summer is going to be even half as good..there is plenty of tummy loving fruit in promise.. ;D ;)
No photos I'm afraid, but mine are going mental as well. Most have 2 flower trusses except for the beefsteaks, which are forming their first. I noticed that Apero has set its first baby fruit yesterday.
The cucumbers have their first flowers as well.
Think manics idea of sowing follow-on plants is a good one.
mine have just died :'( but luckily was given a trusty garden centre voucher for easter :)so I am going to seek out some Beef tomoatoes and italian plum tomatoes and another cucumber.
Here in Yorkshire, we are still waiting for our last frost at the start of June, but my vine tomatoes are mostly outside now, not all in their final containers yet but will be soon, and the fleece is coming out at night. Not as vigorous looking as some of the others pictured on this thread, but there are some flower trusses in evidence and I am happy. :)
I only sowed my bush plants about a month ago, so they look like tiddlers in comparison; I'm hoping for a good couple of weeks so that they can really come on before they join the masses in the garden.
I love my Dad, he has just called to say that when he comes to stay next week can he give me some tomato plants as he has too many ;D,
however he doesn't know the names of them as my mum threw away the seed packets in a moment of OCD :) so can anyone hazard a guess on the following? (his descriptions)
Black ones - normal size
Yellow cherry ones
stripy ones normal size
and plum ones cherry
red with orange stripes, could be tigerella, green with stripes, green zebra
It is total guess as there is soooooo many varieties out there...but most common ones that are available almost anywhere with those descriptions are..
stripy- tigerella
black 'normal'-black, black russian
but the cherry ones are tricky there is too many possibilities...Ildi, sungold, golden cherry- yellow cherry
harlequin, olivade, juliet-red plum cherry
Any of those that rings the bell?
I've got fruit set on Ailsa Craig and Gartenperle......done some sideshoot cuttings or else I'll have no tomatoes come September...memo to self, stagger sowing next year!
Ailsa Craig & gardeners delight are spares from my granddad who has a greenhouse & sows early. They've been out about a week & are a decent size in terms of height but really spindly from being on the kitchen windowsill. Tigerella & roma are still really small seedlings on the windowsill as I had to sow late cos granddad's were taking up all the space ::)
Upside is I should hopefully have a slightly longer season. Finger's crossed. ;D
My Delicious and Amish in the poly are in flower :)but I haven't dared plant out any of the outdoor ones yet as its too windy and cold. They go out during the day and back at night. Coming on well although sown later. 2 Sungold given by a neighbour and destined for the big outdoors are in flower. No flowers yet on my butternuts, cues or melons all in poly. You guys are far ahead of me. Seems a bit nippy and draughty over here for anything tender. Mind you the runners I planted outside during the heatwave have astounded me by coming up and are now under pop bottles. The trail beans gave up and I've resown this time in the poly to put out later. O for some of the warmth [and perhaps rain?] you other folk seem to have.... ::)
Well now I don't know what to do now after reading all posts.
I lost almost two trays of young seedlings (don't know why) so sowed again &
they are approx 2" tall :'(
Will they catch up & produce tomatoes. . . .before xmas?? ::)
