The books say plant in late summer...
........boring (/impatient)!
Any chance of planting soon-ish and getting them to flower by the end of summer???
The bulbs i found are 4.99 a bulb (ebay!!!!!) I don't want to spend that much and not get a result, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also...any pointers for internet purchasing of bulbs??
Thanks
DON`T BUY BULBS FROM E BAY.
You can easy order them from a nursery in UK.
Fritillaria imperialis aurora at Pottersons nursery Linc for 3 Eng pounds. Or Fritillaria imperialis rubra at Rails end nursery close to Evesham. You got them than by mail. Â
Buy I am afraid Fritillaria plant in sept-novembre, deep 15 cm. In winter cover, not 100% winterhardy. Flowers april-Mai.
I bought mine potted and ready to flower from Gordon Riggs in Lancashire last spring - cost me about £3 each but is a gloriously lazy route for impatient types.
Prior to this I had some success with £1.50 each bulbs from Anwick Garden Centre in Lincolnshire. Owned by Parkers and has had a superb range of bulbs in the past, now sadly outside reasonable driving range for me.
Rumbled !!!!!
