It used to be chocolate that was better than *** but now I think it must be rain ;D.
According to Tony we had heavy rain at 4am this morning.I slept through it all. ;)
The ground is wet outside but I don't know how long its been raining, it seems to have stopped now, grey skies though. :-\
We had thunder and rain last night and more heavy this morning. ;D Iam also happy because the dry dusty conditions were playing havoc with my asthma!

we had heavy rain last night in Kent & was supposed to be having more today at 4pm but it hasnt shown up yet, fingers crossed it will rain tonight or in the morning. The rain last night didnt really seem to make much difference to the heavy clay soil at my lotty when i popped down there this afternoon it still looked parched ::)
Love love love the rain :D :D :D
Hate the slugs >:( :(
More rain yesterday (24mm) than whole of March & April (18mm)!
Slugs and snails are on the move...
Its stopped now but was raining for about an hour this morning. (6.30 -7.30 am) The clay still as big cracks in the ground so still more needed. Water buts now full, but the ponds still got 3 inches to go. Working for 4 hours Mon then off for the rest of the week so should be fine for more rain !! ::) ::) ::)

farmers here in Norfolk are irrigating Barley!
After a few heavy showers earlier on yesterday it finally tipped it down for several hours in the evening, Filled up the water butts. Had to swtich them off but rather sad that I was throwing water away, Did managed to hove several bucket loads over my red currants and bean trenches.
Good amount of rain but it has not thoroughly wetted the soil so three inches down it is still as dry as a bone. An inch of rain is just not enough to undo the effects of nine dry weeks.
But the birds were singing its praises this morning.
I just cannot believe how fast the weeds are growing and I think my potato plants are already six inches taller.
We've had a good inch over the last couple of days, but the soil's still barely damp. If we don't get another inch fairly soon I'll be bowing down to mighty Baal, in case he can do the job for us.
Trust me we have a problem Houston here in the east. North Lincs had an hour or so about 6 am and you wouldn't know it now. Goodness know what the crops are going to be like this year for everywhere east of the pennines. Getting humus into the soil is top priority. I line my spud trenches with newspaper and compost before I puddle them in. Gets them off at least.I've done the same with the beans. Amazing what you can use the FT for...
We finally got proper rain overnight last night- home water butt is full and one at the plot which was completely empty is half full. Yook the opportunity to get some hops down for a mulch on garlic and asparagus.
am SO looking forward to the lottie tomorrow-I may be able to do a better job on making the sprout and leek beds ready now that they've had a good soaking.
We too had a drop over night and now the weeds are growing faster than the plants I want to keep.
Oh dear that is the way of gardening I suppose.
