Title: Liquid chicken manure plant food
Post by: Jesse on January 22, 2005, 20:45:11
As most of you know I have some chooks at home in the garden. All the straw and manure goes straight into the compost bin. But I would like to make some liquid plant food from their "poo". Has anyone made their own, I'm worried that if I guess the amount of water and poo ratio that I might end up doing more damage than good to my plants. I'd like to end up with a concentrate that I can dilute at the allotment, don't really want to carry gallons of smelly water in my car to the allotment  :P ;D

There is an article in Febs kitchen garden mag, 'care and kind word's' that mentions using pigeon poo to make a liquid feed giving 1 part droppings to 3 parts water, I think it would not want to be any stronger than that.
I'm hoping to try some of this if I can persuade a neighbour to pass on the droppings from his pigeon loft in exchange or some fresh veg.  ;D
