Title: Asparagus plug plants
Post by: elhuerto on May 01, 2011, 19:34:51
My in-laws turned up today with 9 asparagus plug plants they'd picked up at their local garen centre and I'm not really sure what to do with them and where to put them. We have some wild asparagus growing around the edge of the allotment but I've never seen it here before sold as plug plants. The plants are about 6 inches high and in about 3 inches of soil. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to spacing, full sun or shade, soil or anything else?

Cheers!

In your locality the only requirement is water... until they get their roots down...  :-X

Thanks, do you know how far apart they should be? I'm guessing about 18 inches. And 2 years to the first harvest?

Cheers!

18" would be fine... two years good, three years better... if you can wait  ;D
