Title: HOLIDAY INSURANCE
Post by: rosebud on January 21, 2005, 22:43:48
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRH i have got steam coming out of my ears.  >:( I phoned sainsburys for a holiday insurance quote today, supposed to be reasonable and customer friendly.   They phoned back to say they could not insure me because i have Angina. How ridiculas well they have lost a store customer as well.

Does anyone know of an insurer who is reasonable??.  Thank you.  Rosebud.

Please do not defect to Tesco, one pound in every eight  spent on shopping goes there.  Plus people take their rugrats with them and it is bedlam trying to shop. Stick with the devil you know, it is so much more genteel.

Yes I do have insomnia-these cheap offers are a disgrace-I cannot get them as I take tabs for my BP,if I didn`t i would run a higher risk but would get cheap insurance-weird.

We have a similar problem with our daughter who has diabetes . . .

We ended up with The Post Office who simply said 'no problem' . . . (and no extra charges or restrictions)

Rosebud ,try the following link

I've  always found them OK - never had to claim though and that's often the best test. Also I don't have a medical condition so maybe they wouldn'tsuit your needs, but have a look - you never know.
Haveto agree with Ozzy though re that band of thieves and robbers known as the insurance industry. Always ready to take loads of your money and like trying to get blood out of a stone when it comes to making a claim.

In the Telegraph last year i read about a company called Free Spirit that sells insurance designed to cover those with health problems. I've not used them so cannot recommend as such but it might be worth giving them a call.  Their phone number is:  0845 2305000  and the website is free-spirit.com  Just had a quick look and see they are offering a £10 on-line discount

good luck

Thank you folks for your replys .  Plottie i will ring that number when i have had my tests done , soon i hope.   Somene told me today don`t enquire if you are waiting for tests or they will turn me down anyway,  I am also a diabetic so i am
spitting in the wind with the soding robdogs.  Yes i am defecting i will not give my money to a food company that refuses to be reasonable.  I will not ask tesco as Oz said i will get short shrift from them also.   I shall go uninsured if i have to and make sure we have enough to return home ourselves..
I am still very angry, its really made me feel miserable, still i shall look on the bright side and call plotties suggestion later. :)

Hi Mary,

I've just read this thread and thought I'd pass on some info in the hope that it helps you out. Ian and I first went to the Post Office and picked up an E1 11 form. This form covers you for normal health care that you would recieve from a doctor in Britain.  This form only covers you for certain countries in Europe though.

We then took out Annual travel insurance with Travellers Protection Services Limited.  Here's their details:-

Travellers Protection Services Limited,
1 Prince of Wales Road,
Norwich.
NR1 1AW.

Telephone number:- 06707 744150
Fax:- 08707 744045
E.mail address:- info@tpsltd.com

Ian has high blood pressure and, as you know, I have two artificial knees and they insured both of us with no problems!!

Hope this is of some use to you.

Love, Eileen. x
