Hi all, Could ne one help with getting some manure or grass cuttings ive only had my allotment for about 8wks and have made myself some room at the bottom of my allotment for a compost heap. Ive aready got a compost bin in which ive started putting my veggie waste and other bits and pieces.
Ask around on your site Fulcher. We have a sign on ours with the name & number of the manure delivery man. Just make sure it's a safe supplier, no aminopyralid in it ::).
Welcome to a4a, whereabouts are you, Fulcher?
hi there sorry im in great yarmouth.
ah, bit far away from our bloke, we have 3 lots of stables around, one delivers, the others we have to load up in bags. Grass cuttings come from the local bowling green or the churchyard, provided they don't weed and feed :)
ok thanks ne way for thinking of me much appreciated! shame your not closer.
:)
Ray also takes bin liners around the neighbours who have lawns, plus, people who have rabbits and guinea pigs...don't know if that helps :)
You could look in the yellow pages for stables or riding schools and collect from there.
Ask neighbours for grass clippings. Although you do need to be carefully incase they've treated the lawn. I darnt ask, just in case!
Incidentally they don't use chemicals in churchyards as it disrespects the dead.
We get most of our manure by the roadside, 50p to £1 a bag. No guarantee of quality relating to cost though.
Grass cuttings I use my own, neighbours bag theirs for us and I collared the guy who cuts the communal grass areas and he bags it for me also.
