I've got two 2-3 year old buddleia bushes in the back garden, and one appears to be dying - for a few weeks its leaves have been wilting, it's getting worse. The one right next to it is fine. I've never heard of buddleia getting diseases - does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?
I grew them from 2 cuttings stuck in the ground, close together - so two plants are growing next to each other. One of them is white-flowered and one the standard lilac-colour. It's too early to see flowers of course, so I don't know which is the one which is dying. They're both quite large and sturdy, and in open soil not pots.
I'm stumped! ??? ???
I've sometimes had young buddleias affected by frost, but it's odd if only one is affected - I wonder if different colours are differently hardy? I'd cut down the affected one to ground level and see what happens - will you be the first person ever to kill a buddleia!
It might be me! :-[ ;D
Is there any physical damage to the bush?
You are right, they don't usually get touched by disease.
When you go out..try rocking it..is it firmly in..if not..something has had ago with the roots and that would explain sudden 'wilting'.

If you are let me know the way you did it and I will pass it on to my bosses. ;)
Maybe a coin or two in it for you. ;D
It's very firmly planted. I have no idea how I did it, but it's well and truly dead now. If only I could unlock the secret I could make a fortune! ;D ;D ;D
