Title: Lavender plug plants....when do i plant out?
Post by: kippers garden on April 16, 2011, 20:15:30
I bought 72 Lavendula 'Hidcote' plug plants and they arrived approx 4 weeks ago and i planted them in modules.  They are going to line my allotment path to look pretty and attact bees to my plot.

My question is:  when is best to plant them into my plot...should i leave in modules until next year or sould i plant out this spring/summer?

I do agree.

It has been so warm that I doubt that a frost will touch much now. However if there is frost forcast some light and gentle overnight cover, like fleece, removed asap in the day light woud do the job

;)get them out weather good but as with runner beans that  last ground frost keep a look out on your local weather and as above cover with fleece what a  grand picture it will be when they are all in bloom :)

We pricked out the Dwarf Munstead last night... but put them back in the greenhouse as they threatened a frost last night, doubt we had any but it's much cooler...

Thanks for your replies.

I am going to leave planting out until the end of May, as we sometimes have frosts up until then.  I have a long thin plot and i am going to line both edges of my plot to make it pretty and to attact the bees.
