Title: To remove or not?
Post by: landimad on April 16, 2011, 20:07:44
I have a new Apple tree which is in need of growing before fruiting.
Could it be that we need to remove the buds of fruit to allow the tree to put on growth and bulk out the trunk, branches and roots before we let it fruit?

If mine, I would let it flower and enjoy the show..once petals fall then I would remove whats left of them to prevent the fruit swelling and using up the energy for the new growth.. ;)

That's how I do it. It's making the fuit that uses the plant's energy up, not flowering.

Well, I am sorry to say the flowers are no more and have nipped them off so as they do not produce fruit.
Must be patient and wait a while before I can eat the fruits of my labour.
