Title: old fashioned fudge
Post by: moonspore on April 04, 2011, 12:37:44
hi there,

I;m a uni student, and I'm madly looking for a South African fudge recipe.
the one on the forum is similar to the one that i know and love, but mine contained flour. it made for a crumbly mixture. I have found people adamantly saying that fudge should never involve flour, but i Know that my recipe did.

if anyone can help, i would very much appreciate it!!!!

My favourite recipe software, Big Oven, suggests this recipe:

I haven't tried it, but it does contain flour.  Doesn't say that it's South African, though.

I am really surprised about fudge containing flour.  Mine just has sugar, milk or condensed milk, butter and water.

What about this one

Fudge is very difficult to judge. I like a smooth sort made with condensed milk but there are those perfectionists who think it should be with a slight sugary crunch.

I have found so many recipes on line I have lost count. In fact it is probably the most contentious recipe for any food.

Good luck in finding the one you want.

here are a few for you to look at
