Has anyone grown Tumbler. Have sown the seeds and although I expected them to be a slow grower they are romping away. Do you have to pinch the top out to make them side shoot and tumble all the way around the basket or do they organise themselves
just let them get on with it, nice easy tomato. Did try growing these in a hanging basket but you really have to keep an eye on the water level or the fruit split
Thanks twoflower. They are for baskets up the allotment paths. So more decorative and snacky than maincrop shirley
Put some water retaining crystals in the basket compost. A little bit goes a long way and each little crystal grows to the size of a grape.
Do not completely fill the basket with the crystal containing compost as it will swell after watering and pour over the sides! About one inch below the top of the basket is the maximum and the beauty is that as the water is used up, the compost shrinks and leaves room for watering, in other words always water when there is room and you cannot go wrong.
