Made some game chips to have as a started with tonites meal. Potato, celeriac and parsnips all whizzed through the mandolin, deep fried in hottest of hot oil then drained well and sprinkled with wonderful Maldon salt.

Watch the salt!! But isn't a mandolin great? Only got one this year. Shame that I'm not allowed deep frying. Even with a large fan over the AGA. Lovely veg mix.
Which reminds me - 2 great herby salts - Sainsbury's 'oh!zone' from the Cape Herb & Spice Co. & Fiddes Payne's 'grind fresh' sea salt with seaweed - & 16 other herbs. I bought too much of the latter, because there was no local supplier, so I could give a couple away?? = Tim
They were absolutely delish and Ava wolfed them down after his long journey home from Loughborough this evening. The celeriac became very mild flavoured, that raw aniseedness calmed and the parsnips were wonderfully sweet. I love my mandolin, had one for donkeys, a plassy one but it does the trick! ;D Seasalt with seaweed sounds interesting and 16 other herbs! Wow, I struggle to think of 16 other herbs!! If one found it's way to Essex we would certainly give it a good test drive. :D
You made my mouth water EJ seeing your lovely crisps. I very rarely eat crisps and usually go for the Kettle variety when I do, but they look delish! :P busy_lizzie
Ej what a star mum you are! i bet your kiddies love you! oh and ava!
we do beetroot crisps at work which they serve in the restaurant with red meats like fillet of beef, they are also mixed with regular crisps and served in the lounge with sandwiches they are yummy!

Now you would think the sprogs would love them wouldn't you? Nope! ggrr. Not crispy enough apparently. I will keep trying tho, with our kids, sometimes they have to forget about what they are trying and before you know it, they have cleaned their plates!
WOW!! EJ they look so tasty :P
I love game chips and the celeriac sounds like an interesting addition!!
Gotta go find out what a mandolin is now!!
Dohhhh :)
Your crisps look absolutely delicious Emma. It has been a few years since I tried making crisps and did enjoy them at the time, but oh! the Mandolin, I remember that well!!!
Yes, I am one of those stupid people who nearly took a finger off and have the mark on my finger to prove it. So anyone contemplating buying a Mandolin, please be careful, they are lethal.
::) ::) ::)
whats a mandolin?
This is ours - with a SAFETY GUARD, Carol!
Oh right! I have one or those that cross cuts and slices at same time. Can`t find safety thing though so just concentrate hard!
They are lethal though.
Didnt know it was called that! ;D
