You have to laugh, the tax dodging business's are moaning that there were not enough police to protect their properties in yesterdays riots/demonstrations. Perhaps if they put some of their money back in the system there might have been a few more rozzers on the beat.
Lets face it. If we could avoid paying tax we would. If you argue with that you are either telling fat fibs or you are daft.
Only those with enough dosh to pay some one who knows can get to avoid paying tax.
We just have the priviledge of choosing which political party will take our money and use it as they wish. It is called Democracy.
Other countries do not have Democracy. Their self appointed leaders choose how to spend the money earned by the masses without there being a vote.
We are fortunate people indeed. We can vote and choose.
I agree, nobody wants to pay tax. But not to pay your dues, then moan about not having enough police that are paid for by the tax payers beggars belief.
...but other countries do have democracy and a transparent and fair tax system where high earners pay high tax and accept that it is right they should do so. I'm thinking Scandinavia.
What I hate in the UK is that the low and middle earners who can't afford dodgy accountants end up subsidising the rich. Wrong wrong wrong!!! Offends my socialist soul!!
Well that is true but personally I have not got any thing worth stealing or much which would look worse if a vandal damaged it.
I suppose that should put me in a catagory of getting tax relief.
The police where I live park their Noddy cars on double yellow lines outside the ATM machine when they withdraw their cash.
No matter. They got rid of Traffic Wardens around here to cut costs.
Hey Hey Hey..........Traffic wardens cost more to employ than the revenue they gather from fines???????
At our council meeting I put this as a point and was told that ......
Local government pays for traffic wardens...Central government gets the money from fines...........
(Same from speeding tickets too apparently)
Probably a few other things too.
We need an Investigative Journalist to expose this sort of thing......

Well, living out here in the sticks since 1973, the only time we see the police is if they are lost, ie taken a wrong turning. The police presence has for the past 30+ years been zippo, zilch Cut away, we wont notice any difference. There are no police in this area.
valmarg
did you know that the average age of retirement in the police is 51?
must be the stress, not
why don't private schools pay any tax? tax-avoidance for the kids of the rich? ( apparently if they paid tax, another 100 Million quid would be raised for the coffers)
oh, folk pay national insurance of 11% on wages up to £844 per week, after that it's 1% ??
hit the lowest paid the hardest, good old govt.
It's not for nothing that George Osborne is nick-named "The Artful Dodger". When is he going to start paying his share?
