Got loads of onions and shallots in, spuds going in little by little. Things are slow for me this Spring as I can't use my right hand due to injury, so frustrating! (OH is my typist  :))

However sowing seeds is no problem, and I've got full windowsills! Tomatoes are doing well, potted up,  some under cloche made of old shower screen in garden, they seem happy.

All in all, in spite of the hand, I'm happy with it all so far.  :)

:o WOW this thread makes me feel very behind! I was hoping to get my spuds in today but it rained & the clay got too wet to work. Why does the sun do a runner at the weekend ???
I havent sown a thing yet as this year Im trying to sow as much as pos directly. Does feel odd not to have my windowsills over flowing....Im planning on growing alot of winter squash this year & they all get sown much later. If we have a wet dull summer I will regret giving over half my lotty to squash plants so fingers crossed ;)

Today I put the last of my seeds to chitting on damp kitchen roll - french beans, squashes and corn. Already chitting courgettes and cucumbers. Everything else I grow is already up and doing well - so apart from watering and checking the seeds daily for potting up I can take it easy till the end of April.

I've reduced the number of varieties of tomatoes to 7 this year. None of the peppers germinated so I'll buy in one plant later if I remember. I still have so many red and yellow peppers - and chillies - frozen from last year I don't really need any.

Parsnips still waiting to be lifted ::)
Garlic just popped up
Peas sprouting
Tomatoes growing second leaves
Potatoes still to go in, maybe next weekend for some
Lettuce seedlings up, but taking an age to get any bigger !
Peppers, aubergines and chillis coming along nicely
Broad beans, broccoli, leeks and cucumber sown
Peach has one flower on it
Kale didn't really do anything, so wondering if I should pull it
Looking forward to strawberries :)

Well we have been busy peeps! Makes me look positively backward at coming forward  :)

Waiting to be sown - list is waaaaay too long to mention! I'm looking forward to the beans and peas, have yet to decide what and where to grow it all! ;D

I thought I was reasonably on top of things, however, reading this thread makes me wonder!

Shallots and garlic: I still have two rooted trays to plant out, but only because my seemingly never ending manure mound is taking up the room where they nede to be planted out!

My potato beds are covered with black plastic to warm the ground, potaotes are chitting but only have very small chits, but I intend to bung them in next week anyway.

Some salad onions and lettuce direct sown in the cold frame, carrots may go in under a cloche today hopefully before my night shift.Brassicas in modules in the cold greenhouse, some have germinated, other still waiting for them...

Tomatoes, chillies peppers, cucumbers, melons (yes, again!) sweet peas and calendulas all sown and almost ready for potting on, but quite a few of my 'old' chilli seed hasn't shown yet. Leeks have been in the propagator for a week and nothing from any of them either yet..... :-\ Have loads of bunching onions, banana shallots in modules that will be planted out later in April and left to grow on in clumps

Still to sow any beans, sweetcorn or other flowers, I'm trying hard to get a bit of a succession going, but I've never cracked it to date........

I'm always slow getting stuff in, as I like to let the ground warm up a bit first. But I've got Serpette Guilotteau and Robinson's Purple Podded peas, Aquadulce Claudia broad beans, oca, Welsh onions, and Musselburgh and Winter Giant leeks in pots or seed trays, and All the Year Round lettuce, Spanish Black carrots and Bloomingdale Long Standing spinach in the ground. I'll be putting more in during the week.

blackberry cuttings in pots & grow bag have their new leaves too

Indoor sowing: All the following are at early growth stage: leek musselburgh, peppers, kale, cauli AYR, rocket, thyme, aubergine, coriander, tomatoes (7 varieties - although costoluto & golden sunrise are slow)

Not showing yet: spring onion, onion ailsa craig, cress, some lettuces, rosemary, dill, sweetcorn, courgettes,

to sow: beetroot, french bean, carrots, brussel sprouts, and whatever else  ;D

Oh maybe I am doing quite well this year then!
- All spuds in bar about 10 that got forgotten
- All alliums in and some leeks sown in a seedbed
- some beetroot, broccoli, lettuce sown in a seedbed
- early carrots and spinach sown straight in and fleeced
- Peas in - kelvedon wonder, Alderman talls, some freebies from a swap (Early Alaskan, Half Pint and mangetout)
- Indoors tomatoes, aubergines, peppers sown, up and potted on - courgettes, squash and beans I direct sow end April/ start May
- Rhubarb and artichoke were divided this winter but actually doing pretty well, except one piece of rhubarb that has died (but I think I didn't divide it very well).
- Fruit on the way pretty well (rasps, gooses, strawbs)

Still have to dig over the squash and summer tenders plot but that is only 1/4 of the plot so I am doing pretty well. Just need to tidy the edges, weed the flowers and herbs and get some stable waste for mulch!

We have had our plot seven years now. We took it on in April and was early May before we planted or sowed any thing. We knew nothing and broke all the rules but it still remains our best and most prolific year yet. So I am behind but refuse to panic." Apologies to one and all on here, :-[
I meant to say this is what I have sown so far and not what has been planted.
Getting ahead of myself and Saddad will know that I tend to work in the dark a lot.
It would be nice to get all this lot in now and not wait. But the trouble is that plants like humans need time to grow.
Got to be more patient.

State of Play!!

We have rain..again.. so far almost constantly for several months.

We have wild ducks swimming on the lotties and we are ankle deep in mud on the paths. I could seriously float a canoe on the grass land adjacent to our plots.

John b ought his first pair of wellies last week to be able to get in and move some timbers from one plot to another as we have moved to a double plot.

The only bit I can garden is the waist high disabled bed which we also have,  and the greenhouse whci is on higher ground.

So, rain has stopped play here in BC folks, roll on summer.

Saturday was a great day, had mini helpers who sowed fennel, leeks, beetroots, more onions and lettuce, however, after they had tsunami the rows I suspect that I may have a few seeds left   :) not to worry can always buy seeds but getting the kids out in the sunshine is priceless, and not a moan between them....which may be on account of the oh bribing them with the most expensive milkshakes in the world. ;D

Sunday, spent 2 hours digging allotment, very nearly dug over completely....shed still not up   :-\ mojito party now on hold.. ;)

Broad beans, runner beans and sweet peas very happy podding along in their modules and a few more seeds to get out there too..

Im lucky to live in the South and have had constant sunshine for nearly a month - however downside is that the ground is super dry and it takes a lifetime to water everyday!

State of play here is: beans, peas and broadbeans have been planted out for about 2 weeks. Cucumber and Squash planted in growbags in greenhouse, courgettes planted out yesterday, potatoes are up, asparagus is up but its only my first year so I cant cut it :(, carrots are fluffy, onions ok but not great, cauliflower is planted out but on a bit of a go slow as I guess its a bit early for it, leeks about 1" high and cut flowers are about 2" or so high.   today sowed parnsips (they never grow so no idea what Im doing wrong - any suggestions most welcome), cabbage and beetroot.
This is my first year so I have lots to learn.

Weather had better not bother having a frost ::)

Leeks growing nicely in seed bed. Turnips have been thinned & are going well.
Artichokes & spuds all above ground now by a few inches.
lots of salad leaves ready to pick & also 1st radish ready to eat. Icebergs starting to grow well too.

Beetroots not doing well but have resown.
3 courgettes doing well at home.
1 Boston winter squash just coming through soil at home....got another 15 squash of various types sown
Really happy with my prgress sofar but watering is almost a full time job at the mo as no rain for what seems like forever & clay sooooooooo dry

Just about to harvest last of turnips - have just sown some more but want a few weeks turnip free as Ive eaten loads this year  ;D
Harvesting beetroot - will sow some more soon
Harvested oriental salads but still got lots of cos to go - have sown more
Radish all eaten, will sow more in afew weeks
Eaten all of first rocket sowings but got some more on the way.
Mispoona is on its last legs but should get a few more meals from it
Leeks doing well.
Swede just sown & seedlings from 2 weeks ago through.
Spring onions just been sown.
Plan to sow a late kale variety called Hungry Gap & late cabbages in seed trays next week, plan to plant out once potatoes lifted.
Spuds - got charlottes, kestral & pink fir apples but havent dug any up yet as i planted late.
Artichokes coming on nicely.
Comfrey cut & in water butt for autumn/winter crops
Tomatoes doing ok, grown from seed for first time this year & they are abit slow to get going
Squash plants just starting to really get going - planted out late this year & have had very mixed results from new seeds Im trying for the first time, took forever to germinate. Worried I wont have a winter supply of butternuts this year :-\    Even courgettes were very slow to get going & are just flowering. That will teach me to buy posh seeds, the Wilkinson ones I usually use never give me these problems!
Got lots of seeds to pop in during August/September as gaps appear.
