Post by: JudithM on March 16, 2011, 16:36:24
Is it advisable to use the small potatoes left from last year as seed potatoes for this year?

I know people that do but generally most seem to be of the opinion that it is better to buy seed stock new every year as they are garanteed to be virus free..

For things that are easy to get hold of buy new seed every year. For things that are hard to get hold of (or expensive cos yuou have to order them specially and the opstage is nasty on spuds then I'd risk it.... For instance this year I'm re-using some COngo that I grew last year.... That said that was from microtubers and I grew them in pots of straight horse manure..... but the other 15 odd varieties I'm growing I bought new.....
