Title: Home/contents insurance
Post by: Borlotti on March 14, 2011, 14:52:22
Just changed my insurance to Saga (same cover), from Prudential who quoted £662 a year and saved myself £300.  More seeds.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I`m hoping to save a packet(pun intended) this year. Jenny did all the business stuff and when I went through her paper work it seemed we were totaly over  insured.

Saga?-well I am of that age ;)

I'm not quite of the age... but am currently fighting with my brokers (Swinton) who want to put my Car Insurance up from £440 to £590... on the net I have found 80+ quotes for less... one down at £305. The brokers got it down to £445 last week... and I'm hoping they will do better this week...  :-X

Saddad, our insurance was much higher this year so i went on the internet, & as a new customer to the same company got a much better deal, so have a try at being a new customer. They are so bl**dy crafty, play them at their own game.  Mary ;D

Saddad, I too have been looking at the usual compare.com and the Go compare as our car insurance with AXA has gone up by 30%. been at it all day and still very expensive. Hubby turned 80 in January. A bit more information regarding 80+ will be gratefully received.

Blimey how did you manage that, Hippydave?  I tried to get a quote from them last year for car insurance at the age of 49 and they told me they couldn't insure me for another year!

I got the shock of my life this month when my car insurance renewal came out and it was the same as the previous year :) Love shelias wheels :) Plus they provide extra cover for my hand bag and babys car seat! you would be surprised that this is not covered in other polices and there not cheap!

Both my house/contents and car insurance are well under £300. The former with Liverpool Victoria and the latter with the Coop. The trouble is you don't actually know how good they are until you have to claim!

I once asked Saga for a quote. It was absurdly high so I didn't take it up, but they keep sending me offers which go straight to the shredder.

I really think it's a classic case of "horses for courses". I do my homework every year, starting with Which recommendations, and have managed to keep the rates down by moving about.

Shocking isn't it? My renewal came through from Saga for car insurance, it was 668, did an online search and sheilas wheels quoted 270, guess which one I chose?! It seems to me that insurance companies just think of a number, how can the wild variation in prices for the same thing make any sense?

We have motor insurance with Frizzel (Liverpool Victoria).  £281.74 fully comp with OH insured for business use and both of us for private use.  The car is 2.0 litre diesel and two years old.

House and contents insurance with Direct Line £133.35.  We don't have accidental damage to contents though.  House is large, detached 4 bedrooms.

I can definitely recommend Churchill. Not only were they cheapest for us, but I set it up through quidco & got fifty quid back. Got burgled last Monday & I'm typing this on my new laptop with a cheque on the countertop for the rest of the stuff lost. They've been brilliant & superspeedy.

I think it's all about swings and roundabouts I join Churchill each year as a new customer and get brilliant deals.
