What squash and pumpkins might be more tolerant of some shade?
There is somewhere i could do with a bit of ground cover which does get sun but not that much..
any ideas?

They are best if there is plenty of sun.
thanks thats what i thought :( will have to rethink a few things...
If you are mainly after ground cover then why not just give it a try and see, nothing to lose.
Or you could sow a green manure or comfrey
I've found Veg spaghetti more tolerant of shade if given something to climb.. :-X
I used to grow courgettes in a raised bed on the north side of my first house and they did quite well. But I think this was before I discovered quite how large and porductive a courgette is supposed to be. I used to put three of four in a space where I would now put only one.
I second that as I had a courgette that did realy well in a spot with limited sunshine a daty as the sun moved round the garden. Plant looked good and courgettes were good.
I recently discovered how big the plants should and can be :o
thanks guys i will give it a go :) Yes courgettes can get massive but i have decided on 3 varieties this year
- Long Yellow
- Long Green
- Round green
Its great for baby food so i am hoping me and the other mums can keep on top of them :)
I haven't sown mine yet but three plants will be plenty I think plus 2 butternuts for the poly. Marrow and [ very]ginger jam is top priority plus the usual ratat etc. A Choggia is still sitting on the kitchen window sill from last years crop so they keep OK as do the butternuts --- away from da mice which got the spuds.. But I got them ..... ;)Think I'll try a veg spag. a choggia and long green courgette. nothing fancy. they'll go in last years tomato raised bed. lots of sun but might be a bit dry.
